MeRT therapy in Canada (magnetic e-resonance therapy) improves brainwave communication for better functionality. Our brain contains 100 billion neurons interacting with each other through electrical oscillations (brain waves).
Under normal conditions, these interactions happen effortlessly. However, several things can disrupt this cycle and affect an individual’s quality of life.
Neural disruptions range from minor to significant, and each person has various tolerance thresholds. Some people may function within their daily routine, while others experience a reduced quality of life. Conditions that disrupt the brain’s system include the following:
MeRT involves using customized Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) to assist in making a diagnosis. It is painless, non-invasive, and drug-free. MeRT provides a gentle push in the proper direction to facilitate brain improvement with great success in some areas.
MeRT combines rTMS (Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation), EKG (Electrocardiogram), and qEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalogram) to generate treatments according to the client’s brain wave pattern.
We reprogram dysfunctional electrical brain signals using magnetic waves two weeks at a time for six weeks. It allows for the permanent restoration of the brain’s function and modifies behaviour.
This technology combines machine learning analysis with neuroscience expertise to identify areas of poor communication of brain waves to restore functioning. MeRT works to reshape brain activity independent of the dysfunction source.
Four steps exist when using MeRT treatments. They are as follows:
The first appointment begins by performing an EKG and qEEG. This diagnostic testing determines brain-heart coherence and brain frequencies. It shows brain dysfunction and activity. The qEEG’s ability to create a brain map provides valuable information for customizing treatment. During this time, we determine whether a person is a candidate for treatment.
Chief neuro-technicians conduct the testing, which lasts for 45 minutes. At this time, we begin new patient paperwork and schedule the initial assessment period for your treatment.
The second appointment is with a nurse practitioner for a clinical evaluation. It allows us to address questions and discuss your customized treatments. You will also meet your physician at this time.
We incorporate a scientific, patented approach with the testing data during the analysis phase. It provides a customized treatment plan to encourage healthy brain function and communication.
Once we establish a treatment plan, clients attend therapy five days a week for two weeks. While receiving treatment, neuroscientists put a magnetic coil on the client’s head while patients rest in a comfortable chair. The magnetic coil emits low-frequency magnetic fields, which produce mild electrical signals to specific brain locations.
Clients spend 30 minutes in the chair, and brain stimulation occurs at 6–8 seconds per minute. Patients must close their eyes during the 6-8-second intervals while the magnet is in use.
Once the two weeks have ended, an additional EKG and qEEG will allow us to track progress and make necessary treatment modifications. We monitor progress during daily treatments. Technicians confirm how the patient is feeling and track improvements.
We recommend six weeks of treatment for MeRT, which is necessary for long-term success and optimal results. However, we must see how you respond to treatment before undergoing a six-week evaluation.
Assessments last for two weeks, and there are nine treatment sessions with repeated qEEGs. The procedure is as follows:
If the qEEG shows good progression, then treatments continue. We schedule further treatments Monday to Friday of each week. We repeat a qEEG and continue consultations every two weeks during treatment.
Patients experience treatment benefits within one to two weeks. Since treatments are cumulative, improvements continue throughout treatment, extending to two weeks after treatment ends.
Patients experience minimal side effects, and they usually dissipate as treatment continues. The benefits of MeRT are permanent and outweigh any discomfort experienced. However, some clients wish to book follow-up treatments if needed.
Clients should note that improvements involve active and strict observations of protocols. Results are not guaranteed and vary according to the individual.
So far, Major Depressive Disorder and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder have been FDA-approved to use MeRT. Research is ongoing, and studies have demonstrated MeRT’s effectiveness in treating other conditions.
MeRt treatment for autism has seen great success. Such therapy has reduced symptom severity. Patients experience improved eye contact, behaviour, social interactions, mood, and language skills.
Clients experience better mental clarity and sleep. They enjoy an increase in energy levels. Regarding depression, Stanford Medicine reports that treatments are 80% effective in a controlled, double-blind study. Furthermore, 79% of patients with severe depression experienced a remission.
Experiencing isolation and frustration is normal for those affected by neurological conditions. Many people lose hope in finding lasting treatment to improve their condition.
However, MeRT therapy in Canada provides hope to many patients. This technology assists people in restoring brain function, allowing them to feel passionate about living and reclaiming their lives.
At Neurosync Brain Centre, our new patient coordinator guides you through the process and addresses your questions. We will help you make an informed decision as to whether MeRT is for you. Through an initial consultation, we explain the protocols and treatment process. We discuss insurance and any other details you are curious about.
